St Benedict Boarding House for Girls: A Douai Foundation School
The Douai Foundation has funded the construction and initial running costs of a boarding house for up to fifty girls (aged 11-15) in the mountains of north-east India, near Nongstoin.
It will provide access to education to girls in remote areas who would otherwise be deprived of schooling and sent into agricultural work at an early age.
The school is run by the Benedictine Sisters of St Lioba, and opened its doors to the first pupils in February 2024.
The Foundation hopes that this will become the first of many Douai Foundation schools across the world.
