In 2022 the Foundation funded the following projects in the United Kingdom
St Bede’s Catholic High School, Ormskirk
Grant: £450
St Bede’s is a 11-16 comprehensive in Ormskirk, a Douai parish. The school organises an annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, and this funding (£1,350 spread over three years) will enable a boy or girl who would otherwise be unable, to take part in this life-changing experience.
St Benedict’s Catholic School, Bury St Edmunds
Grant: £5,625
St Benedict’s is the Foundation’s flagship school. A Catholic State school, its ethos is rooted in Benedictine values, which pervade almost every aspect of the school’s daily life. Under its inspirational headteacher, the school has expanded in size considerably over the years, and now numbers 900 pupils, but the chapel is tiny and not for purpose. An alternative space has been identified and LEA funding obtained for a functional chapel. The Foundation’s funding will enable the school to enhance this.
Ukrainian refugees
Grant: £2,500
Both Worth School and St Benedict’s Ealing have taken in refugee pupils from Ukraine. While they are covering the fees from their own reserves, additional extracurricular activities (such as music lessons) are not covered, and so the Foundation has offered a grant of £500 per pupil to cover these important aspects of school life.
